What is the EYFS?

The EYFS is the statutory Early Years framework which is mandatory for all schools, settings and childminders to follow from birth up to the end of reception. The EYFS sets out our legal obligations regarding things like adult:child ratios, suitable people, safeguarding and welfare, staff qualifications, and learning and development.

Everything we do supports each child’s learning and development in accordance with the EYFS.   We follow the Development Matters curriculum published in 2021 which spans the following prime and specific development areas each according to their age categories – Birth to Three & 3-4 years.

Key person…

Your child’s key person will observe your child closely ensuring that all learning milestones are recorded and that the activities planned are meeting their individual learning and development needs and interests as well as recording special moments in their development.  We analyse our observations regularly to make assessments of your child’s learning and development to make sure that their learning is on track.

Electronic recording …

We don’t want you to miss out on any of these important milestones so we use iConnect to allow you to keep up with the progress your child makes at nursery.

iConnect, developed by Connect Childcare integrates with an app for parents called ParentZone and enables us to record children’s activities.  Through ParentZone you will be able to securely log in and view photographs, videos and the learning activities your child has taken part in as recorded by your child’s key worker.  You can also share with us special moments from home life by uploading photos or WOW moments.
